things.” Swedenborg

love and wisdom through worship, the arts, and service.

Love Song Sunday Service/Potluck/Coffee
House/Concert all in one
Love and Music go together
like milk and
honey…or chocolate and strawberries! This Sunday we are celebrating
music’s power to enhance our loving relationships with each other and
with God. In addition to Rev. Eric’s thoughtful message, we will have
wonderful guest singers and surprises during church. After the service
there will be a Love SONG potluck buffet…..where MORE talented singers
will present their musical gifts while we enjoy some food. Please bring
a dish to share AND/OR a song to sing J

A message to Parents and Teachers
Dear Teachers
and Parents,
This is an update on the coming month for our kids.
First of all thank you Marilyn Foos for doing Sunday School this
last Sunday. I
could tell the kids were jazzed at what they had done with you!
Nancy Apple will be doing this coming week, she's always full of
bright ideas!
David Mullen is doing a musical session with our kids on
the 12th, about
love. ( with Valentines Day coming up). Knowing David they will be
writing
a love song! With David's help, the kids wrote a song at summer
camp that
you may have heard them sing. So precious!
Stephanie Peterson is treating our kids to her creative genius and
doing a
project on February 19, also "love" related.
Last Fall as some of you might
remember, Stephanie led the kids in making an decoupage "Angel rock",
really
neat. So her art projects are extraordinary. She let me know this
is aimed
for the older kids, (5 and above, Stephanie?). Stephanie also had
an idea
of displaying our children's art in the service in a special way, she
asked
me for a list of all the kids names, so Jodi, Jane, Bettina &
(Michelle?) if
you could e-mail me their correct spellings (or let me know at church
next
week).
Presently for topics we are letting the teacher decide
what message they
would like to share that is close to their heart & that is
important to them
about church and God. Eric had the idea of
everyone at church taking a
Sunday with the kids. Jane jumped on board for this and
volunteered for
Feb. 26th. Next week with calendar in hand, I hope to get
some of our
wonderful church members to fill up the month of March and April!
Lastly, Allison our teenager retired from taking care of our tiny ones,
so
that is an important position needed to be filled 3 times a
month. We pay
15 dollars for this, or it could be for community service time
that some
schools require now. If anybody has an idea of who, let me know.
Warmly, Diana
NEWS
We had a great annual meeting on
January 28
Welcome to new board members Helen Barler, Jodi Marrs and
Marshall
Partington! We presented three APPLE AWARDS this year to honor our most
active volunteers. Congratulations and thanks to David Mullen for
setting up each week and offering his music, to Ray Moreau for managing
our website and offering his music and to Diana Piermattei for her work
in coordinating and leading the Sunday School and for her many yummy
home made treats. Many thanks folks for so much given in love.
We cheered as we went over some highlights from 2005. 10
different
religions presented on Sundays. Buddhist, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim,,
Native American, Sikh, Shinto, Christian, Swedenborgian, and Wiccan,
Three fabulous Spirit Parties, A packed house at Herons Roost for
Easter Sunday, Great amp out, Terrific kids camp, and J Appleseed play,
Rock hunting, Hosted PCA and did an awesome job, visited Shinto Shrine,
Stunning visiting musicians and best choirs ever, Amazing Thanksgiving
dinner for the homeless, much improved website, world class music, and
a record breaking Christmas Eve service.
Gary Kersten gave us the good news that we had a balanced budget and
the bad news that plate collections were down $5,000. He reminded us
that if everyone gave a minimum of a dollar a day to the church we
could make a giant step toward being free from denominational aid.
To
those who already give that much or more- we say thank you.
For us to thrive and grow everyone must thrive and grow in
their level of giving!
Rev. Eric is paid 3/4 salary and much of that comes from denominational
aid. To cut costs we have also limited our office at the Stonehouse to
one day each week. Eric is there all day on Wednesdays. He
is still
chairman of the Council of Ministers for the denomination. This
is a
very full 1/4 time job.
Plans for the coming Year
At the meeting we also wrote down what successful programs we
would be celebrating we had done a year from now. These are:
A solid
vision on the property. We would have land and invite others to
join
in the project of building a center for all faiths, art in the park
program, participating in a spiritual festival, more service to the
community, 100 people at our next Ancient Sounds concert/service. 1oo
people at Easter Service, RocknRoll Sunday, women’s community, Retreat
in Toffino, mens group, every person teaching at least one Sunday
school class. sponsor a family in Africa, help interplast overseas
work, a minister exchange, 100 kids at our next summer camp, Sister
with a Swedenborgian Church in South Africa.
COMING UP.
This Sunday, February 12 Worship
11:00 a.m. at Dance Works
Worship and Potluck Concert
Special Guests Sing Love Favorites
Rev. Eric will be talking about how Gods love is cleverly woven into
the national debate about Evolution and Intelligent Design. This
Sunday churches of every denominaton will be talking about this as part
of a nation wide effort for all churches to talk about this
subject.
There will be printed summary for you to take home.
From
the Toltect culture comes this saying” Our life is shorter than
flowers. Then shall we mourn? NO, we shall dance, plant
gardens,
dress in colors and teach our children to make the world more
beautiful. Because our life is shorter than flowers.”

Looking for land in all the right places.
A long list of friends have come forward to help us find
land and build a sacred center which honors all faiths.
This would literally be a national land mark. It would also
stand as
a monument to human consciousness spiritually evolving to the point
that we acknowledge God is just too big to fit inside of one religion.
Swedenborg has amazing insights but not all the answers from
every
angle. This project will take years but the longest journey
begins
with one step and it is time to take that step. We’re building a
team:
Anyone who would like to serve on this exciting team should contact
Eric. 425-889-4716.
Thought for
the Day
In the Bhagavad
Gita, Lord Krishna calls upon Arjuna to regard himself
as an instrument of the Divine. Every human being is indeed an
instrument of God. As such, he should carry out his duties, leaving the
results to God. Men have to do their duties; success or failure is
determined by the Divine. Do not esteem yourself as the doer. Develop
the conviction that the Indwelling Spirit in you is directing you and
enabling you to act.

No musical experience required
just a willingness to try …
Learn to play the Native American flute, its’
history, voicing
abilities, and how to play this beautiful and magnificent sounding
instrument! It’s extremely easy to learn to play this flute
and to create your own music.
Few sounds catch the heart and imagination as the
soulful,
soaring and meditative voices of Native American flutes. Using
ancient
musical scales and responsive to your breath and feelings, these
magical flutes are wonderfully expressive, often touching others in
unforgettable ways. They can soothe, evoking a deep sense
of
relaxation, bring cleansing tears, compel others to harmonize in song,
or initiate dance. Amazingly … these instruments are also
extremely
easy to learn to play. Besides Native music, they also can play
standard European (chromatic) and other scales, and thus can play any
style of music.
Bring your own pentatonic scale flute in any key.
Or when registering, reserve your very own flute.
Navajo Cedar Wood flutes will be available for $65 and PVC white
plastic for $20, as well as professional quality instruments, as used
in our performances and award winning Native American Flutists.
